The connection between Cox Dental and TNS Labs goes back a lifetime. Ron and Wes Cox both followed in their father’s footsteps to enter the dental technician profession. These days the two collaborate to help dentists create the best contour and form for cases such as single tooth and full mouth restorations.

The two experienced technicians work together to provide the dentist and his patient with a diagnostic wax up created from a pre-op impression taken in the dentists’ office. Wes can also make an eggshell provisional with multiple color options to be used as temporary crowns. “The dentist and the patient can work with the temps to make any changes or adjustments prior to final restoration,” said Wes.

Once the dentist and patient are satisfied, the impression of the final changes made to the provisional is provided to Ron and his team. “What makes Wes’s work so valuable is that it gives me an advanced road map to eliminate the guesswork to fabricate the final restorations,” said Ron. “Without this work, the chances are high that the case will come back with changes requested on behalf of the patient or the dentist.”

The brothers have worked together for years at their father’s lab located in Totem Lake. Ron purchased the lab when his father semi-retired and moved to Moses Lake to start TNS. Wes purchased TNS and moved it to Woodinville a few years ago when the patriarch retired.

Wes says the benefit of working together on a case with Ron is their honest feedback and communication with each other that result in less changes and superior work. “I value the feedback from Ron that I would not likely receive from other labs,” said Wes.

Ron says his father was a great teacher and the profession has been rewarding for the whole family. Wes agrees that the three of them have been able to make it successful without the tension sometimes associated with other family owned businesses.
